English Tutors

In September 2015 we opened our brand-new secondary section, making Whitefriars a fully integrated 3 to 18 through school. With our new state-of-the-art building and experienced and well-qualified staff, we are now offering our first Key Stage 3 and GCSE students a fabulous education.

We are now looking for English tutors to join our fantastic team. The role involves supporting students, who are below track in English, in 1:1 sessions and group sessions. This will help provide them with the best opportunity to excel academically and socially in school without being impeded by a lack of English.

You may have recently completed your A-Levels and are looking for a rewarding role prior to starting your University course. You may be studying at a local university and are looking for an exciting opportunity to run alongside this. You may be on a gap year and looking for a way to give back to society. You may already be employed and are motivated by an opportunity to support children who really need you. You may be able to offer a couple of hours a week. You may be able to offer more. Whatever your circumstances, we want to hear from you if you are motivated by improving the life chances of young people.

In May 2018 our school was judged by OFSTED to be outstanding.

We are now planning our new sixth form which will open in September 2021.

Our students make rapid progress in an environment of love and care without bells.

Our school is a strong family where expectations are high, and children are treasured.

We believe that anyone can learn anything, and the growth mindset underpins everything we do.

We explicitly teach our children to live by positive shared values and to hold these deep in their hearts. We are a Rights Respecting school and teach our children how to ensure that everyone has the right to learn and be safe. This creates our wonderful learning environments and great behaviour.

Our pedagogical approach is rooted in the science of memory and how children learn. We ask lots of questions, we explain in small steps, we link to prior learning and we guide first practice. Our students think hard about their learning and we ensure they focus on their precise next steps.

We maintain a great work-life balance. Our behaviour procedures are centralised. Our marking policy allows for constructive student feedback in an efficient manner. Our home learning systems are well organised.
